What's So Great About Chick-Fil-A??

Growing up we never had a Chick-Fil-A. There still isn't one in my hometown. Every once in a while, people would move to our town from a bigger city and would bemoan the fact that there was no Chick-Fil-A or talk about how much they just loved it. I guess I resented it a bit. I just couldn't identify with their sentiment. When I went to college the campus put a Chick-Fil-A in our campus cafe. I tried it a couple of times, but my general first impression was "This is expensive! What's so great about Chick-Fil-A?" I was a poor college student afterall. Well, things have certainly changed since then. After having children, and moving to a bigger city, and starting work, we started frequenting Chick-Fil-A more often. It became a Saturday lunch ritual for us! Their indoor playground can't be beat. I also love their food! In fact, I have become such a Chick-Fil-A fan that it was THE first fast food place that I looked for when we got here to Dallas. I was so afraid that I was going to have to go without....just like the people that had moved into my hometown growing up. Horrors! I am happy to be headed there today to take the kids to play, and maybe enjoy some of their delicious homemade style ice cream. Delish.

Mexican Restaurants

We enjoy eating Mexican food. I guess, technically, American-Mex food. We frequent these restaurants often. With our recent move to Texas, we were especially excited to try some new Tex-Mex places. Although the restaurants have been delicious, we must admit that nothing has quite compared to one place that we have eaten. Granted, a lot of our judgement is based upon the chips and salsa-we tend to be salsa connoisseurs. And, of course, the cheese dip. If we don't like the salsa, we don't like the place! And, if they don't have cheese dip, they are out! Quite to our surprise, one of our favorite Mexican restaurants, is still the Monte Alban in my home town in Murphy. We loved the salsa and the cheese dip there, and they had great fajitas, and delicious southern style sweet tea. The next best thing we found with our move to Birmingham was the Iguana Grill. They served TWO types of salsa and had a queso blanco, but it just wasn't as good as Monte Alban. Much to our chagrin the Mexican restaurants here in Texas are lacking in both the salsa and queso blanco departments. We haven't found a place yet that serves plain queso blanco! It's certainly not all bad though. We have definitely found that the fresh tortillas are amazing!! The fajitas are also equally delicious with even bigger portions.

Our hunt for our new favorite Mexican Restaurant coincides with our hunting for a new church. We typically go to church, then out to eat. :-) So, our quest will continue in both venues!

Worth noting: Over Fourth of July, my cousin's husband, David, made an amazing corn, cilantro, chiles dish for which I really want the recipe. So, please post...thanks!!
